Disc Golf Wanaka and Vortica Disc Golf have worked hand-in-hand since the formation of the club, with Vortica loaning the club the money to buy baskets for the Lismore Park DGC.

And thus the Luggate Red Bridge DGC is a combined design effort lead by Dom “Silver Fox” Hayden of the DGW club, and ably assisted by several others. The holes may look easy at first sight, but upon first playing, you’ll discover that birdies can be hard to come by.

This is almost a putter-only course, where ace runs are de rigueur for the locals. This is yet another short course you won’t want to miss, as you get unique views of the famous one-way Red Bridge, made in the traditional Bailey Bridge form, and the mighty Clutha River / Mata-Au.

Directly adjacent the Freedom Camping area at the Red Bridge, this little course winds its way up, down, and across the varied terrain. You’ll be delighted with how quickly the course plays, and you may choose to stay a while, and rest.

The course was installed in mid-2022, by Vortica, with the now-traditional 4-colour paved teepads we so greatly prefer over concrete, which can not be recycled.
