In late 2017 the PRA contacted Chris with their funding in place, and their minds made up: they wanted a Community Disc Golf Course in their local park. Chris immediately began developing what he refers to as “The Ultimate Date Course” because you can take any sceptical non-disc-golfing partner to Queenspark, and 35 minutes later, as you drive away from the little 9-basket course, they’ll be smiling, and saying something like, “That was surprisingly fun, and we could do that again, for sure.”

Queenspark is very specifically designed to reward and encourage the participation of newcomers to the game. Each and every basket forces you to learn a new skill, and play a different shot. At times it restricts your shot selection, and at others it causes you to make a conscious decision about what shot to play.

Because of this, Queenspark is a very popular DGC, both with the local residents (for whom the course is specifically designed) and people from the greater Christchurch area, and from across NZ.

Competent players can challenge themselves to make 9 birdies, with only 1-basket requiring a 100-metre throw. Fun is had by all at Queenspark.

In 2024, the Parklands Residents Association disbanded, and ahead of this Chris worked with Patariki Caffell and Jono Scott of the nascent Otautahi Chain Club so the PRA could donate the course equipment to the new club.

In late 2014, a representative from the combined Masonic Lodges of Christchurch approached Chris directly, after experiencing the Queenstown Gardens DGC Chris had helped design and install in 1995.The Masons wished Christchurch had a course, and generously donated the baskets for the first official DGC in the city. Chris

selected Jellie Park, and obtained council permission post-earthquakes, to proceed with the project, with no funding from council.
